Michael Owen is backing Chelsea FC to beat Leicester City in the FA Cup quarter-finals at King Power Stadium on Sunday evening.

The defending Premier League champions will be looking to build some confidence in the Chelsea FC squad following a tough start to 2018 so far.

Chelsea FC lost 3-0 to FC Barcelona in the second leg of their Champions League last-16 clash at Camp Nou on Wednesday night.

The Blues exited Europe’s premier club competition following a 4-1 aggregate loss to the Spanish top flight leaders in Cataluna.

The west London side need to win the FA Cup to win silverware in successive seasons under Antonio Conte.

However, Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur are also relying on the domestic cup competition to win a trophy this term.

Former Liverpool FC striker Owen is backing Leicester to beat Chelsea FC in their FA Cup last-eight clash at King Power Stadium on Sunday evening.

“Chelsea have won twelve of their last 15 games against Leicester but the champions had a tough game at Barcelona midweek and they will have to be at their best against a Foxes side who put four past West Brom last weekend,” Owen told BetVictor.

“Chelsea cannot afford to feel sorry for themselves after they hit the woodwork no less than four times over the two legs against Barca and it is hard not to conclude that Lionel Messi was the sole difference between the sides.

“This looks sure to be a close entertaining affair and I can see opportunities at both ends – but if there is to be a winner in 90 minutes perhaps the hosts can shade it.”

Chelsea FC won the Premier League title with two games to spare last season after the Blues finished seven points ahead of their closest challengers Tottenham.

The Blues signed England international Ross Barkley, AS Roma defender Emerson Palmieri and Arsenal striker Olivier Giroud in the January transfer window.
