Lescott, Barton and more: Twitter reacts as Man City thrash West Ham
Joleon Lescott and Joey Barton both tweet their thoughts as Manchester City thrash West Ham to reach the League Cup final

Manchester City booked their place in the League Cup final thanks a 9-0 aggregate thrashing of West Ham United.
Leading 6-0 from a first-leg battering at The Etihad earlier this month, goals from Alvaro Negredo and Sergio Aguero wrapped up a comfortable 3-0 win at Upton Park on Tuesday night.
Manuel Pellegrini’s men will now take on either Sunderland or Manchester City in March’s Wembley final.
The game prompted plenty of reaction on Twitter – and here are our favourite updates, in chronological order as usual.
Former Bolton and Everton man Peter Reid (@reid6peter) has had enough of the game already: “Right Roma v Juve for me now.”
Ex-Aston Villa midfielder Ian Taylor (@IanTaylor7) states the obvious: “I think the tie might just be over??……Wow…. #whufc #mcfc #CapitalOneCup”
Queens Park Rangers’ Joey Barton (@Joey7Barton) is backing West Ham’s front-man to keep them in the top flight: “If Andy Carroll stays fit West Ham stay up. He gives them a focus and purpose to build attacking phases from.”
Ex-Norwich striker Darren Huckerby (@hucks6dh6) fears for Sam Allardyce’s men: “This could end up 15-0 on aggregate! #Mcfc”
Former England international Gary Lineker (@GaryLineker) has a joke: “Think this may just be beyond the hammers now.”
Retired boxer and huge City fan Ricky Hatton (@HitmanHatton) is understandably thrilled: “Great win by city. Nothing to say other than there on fire at the minute. Especially the beast & Sergio.”
And finally, defender Joleon Lescott (@JoleonLescott) tweets his delight after the final whistle: “Great achievement to great to the first final of the season. Very professional performances over the 2 legs”
