Michael Owen is tipping Lille to hold Chelsea FC to a scoring draw in their Champions League clash in France on Wednesday night.

The Blues head into the game on the back of having claimed their first Premier League win of the season at Stamford Bridge under new boss Frank Lampard with a 2-0 victory over Brighton and Hove Albion.

Chelsea FC are now looking to pick up their first Champions League points of the season after they suffered a disappointing 1-0 loss to Valencia in their group opener last month.

This is the sides’ first meeting, although both Chelsea FC and Lille have recent experience against teams from their opponents’ country.

Former Liverpool FC star Owen is predicting a tough game for Chelsea FC and believes that it will end up being a draw.

Writing in his column for BetVictor, Owen said: “Lille have not won in their last nine home games in European competition and both they and Chelsea lost their opening group game without scoring.

“Both sides will be looking to kick-start their Champions League campaign, but I feel they will have to settle for a point apiece in northern France.”

Chelsea FC have scored three goals or more in five of their last nine European matches. Their tally of 36 goals in last season’s Europa League was one short of the competition record set by Porto in 2010-11.

The Blues are undefeated in seven European away matches (W5 D2), and have won 10 of their last 19 European away fixtures (D5 L4).
