Jordan Henderson scored a second-half winner as Liverpool were 4-3 winners against Swansea City in a thrilling encounter at Anfield.

Jonjo Shelvey and a Martin Skrtel own goal cancelled out early strikes from Henderson and Daniel Sturridge before the Reds forward put the home side ahead minutes before half-time.

Wilfried Bony levelled from the spot after Skrtel’s foul but Henderson struck with 16 minutes remaining. Here is a selection of our favourite Twitter reaction to the seven-goal thriller, as ever, in chronological order.

Former Chelsea midfielder Jody Morris (‏@morriskid) isn’t happy with the decision to put the Newcastle match on ahead of Liverpool v Swansea: “Liverpool and Swansea two good footballing sides.no I’ll tell you what let’s put villa Newcastle on instead zzzzzzz”

Hull City midfielder David Meyler (‏@DavidMeyler7) hails his former Sunderland team-mate: “Take a bow Jordan…”

Ex-Liverpool striker Neil Mellor ‏(@NeilMellor33) reckons the Swans still have a chance with score finally poised at 3-2: “Great entertainment again at Anfield! Liverpool 3-2 up against Swansea who aren’t out of this yet. @SkyFootball”

England legend Gary Lineker (‏@GaryLineker) talks up prolific Sturridge: “Daniel Sturridge is scoring at a similar rate, at present, to Messi and Ronaldo. No comparisons, of course, but just saying.”

Wigan midfielder James Mcarthur (‏@jamesmcarthur16) echoes Morris’s sentiments: “Newcastle game 0 goals, Liverpool 5 goals. Well played sky sports!”

Spurs fan Lord Sugar ‏(@Lord_Sugar) expects Liverpool to win despite Wilfried Bony’s equaliser: “Despite the current score 3-3 I feel Liverpool will still win this. I could be wrong.”

More from Lineker ‏(@GaryLineker): “Brendan Rodgers is living proof that British coaches can be intuitive, creative, inspiring and thoughtful. Just look at the improvement in the games of Sturridge and Henderson. Coincidental? I don’t think so. Coaching at its finest.”

John W Henry’s partner Linda Pizzuti (‏@Linda_Pizzuti) praises the goal-scorers: “A critical 3 points from another dramatic match. Keeping pace with the top, only 4 points behind 1st. Congrats LFC! […] “A brace of braces” for @D_Sturridge and Jordan Henderson.”

Andros Townsend’s father Troy Townsend (‏@Towno10) points out how Sturridge is emerging out of Luis Suarez’s shadow: “Hold up!! Is Sturridge nicking all of Suarez’s goals. What’s happened there? Scoring like he was in the playground before.”

Mellor (‏@NeilMellor33) hails the win: “Another important 3points at Anfield for Liverpool. Huge credit to Swansea who made a real game of it. Henderson superb and got vital winner.”

Swansea goalkeeper Gerhard Tremmel (‏@GerryTremmel) praises his team-mates for a fighting defeat: “Fantastic effort from the boys. Too bad we didn’t get at least a point. #gutted”
