Alyson Rudd has raised questions about Liverpool’s pursuit of Mohamed Salah in the summer transfer window.

The Merseyside outfit have been linked with a move to sign the Egypt international over the past week or so.

Salah is reported to have agreed a deal with Liverpool but the Reds are still thought to be negotiating with Roma over a transfer fee.

The 24-year-old moved to the Premier League in January 2014 when Chelsea signed Salah in an £11m deal from Basel.

However, Salah struggled to make an impact at Stamford Bridge and was sent out on loan to Fiorentina and AS Roma.

However, Times journalist Rudd has questioned whether Salah would be a significant improvement on Jurgen Klopp’s current options.

Speaking to The Game podcast about Liverpool’s pursuit of Salah in the summer transfer window, Rudd said:

“I’ve yet to see Salah play well. I’ve only seen him play badly. I don’t think he will be the answer to any big problems.”

Liverpool finished in fourth place in the Premier League table and secured a place in next term’s Champions League.
