Liverpool 3 Cardiff 1: Luis Suarez is world’s best player – Malky Mackay
Liverpool 3 Cardiff 1: Malky Mackay describes Luis Suarez as the best player in the world following a loss at Anfield
Malky Mackay hailed Luis Suarez as the best player in the world after the Liverpool striker scored twice to help the Reds beat Cardiff City.
The Uruguayan broke the deadlock in the 27th minute when he fired a stunning volley past Bluebirds goalkeeper David Marshall and teed up Raheem Sterling for Liverpool’s second three minutes before the interval.

The 26-year-old netted his 19th strike of the season on the stroke of half-time as he curled a low shot past Marshall before Jordon Mutch scored a 58th-minute consolation for the visitors.
And Mackay, whose future at Cardiff is up in the air after being handed an ultimatum by owner Vincent Tan, admitted Suarez was too good for the newly-promoted side.
“I told the players how proud I was of them,” Mackay told BBC Sport.
“We were excellent until Luis Suarez showed why he is just about the best player in the world right now. I told them not to go under and we stayed in the game. Liverpool will be challenging for the league this year.
“The crowd were our 12th man. I reiterate 100% that I absolutely will not be resigning from the football club. I am a proud man to lead this team. Why would I want to leave? That is something you will have to ask other people.”
