Liverpool’s Daniel Sturridge ‘edging closer’ to full fitness
Liverpool striker Daniel Sturridge tweets that he is edging closer to full fitness every day after an ankle injury

Daniel Sturridge has given Liverpool an injury boost after revealing that he is edging closer to full fitness ahead of a busy festive period.
The 23-year-old striker hasn’t featured for the Premier League leaders since scoring a late equaliser to secure a 3-3 draw with Everton at Goodison Park on 23 November.
Sturridge, who joined the Reds from Chelsea in January, had scored nine goals and made two assists in 12 Premier League appearances before succumbing to injury.
And the Liverpool striker tweeted an update on his fitness ahead of the Reds’ clash against his former side Manchester City on Boxing Day.
S/O to all my fans for the love and support you've shown. Feeling good right now mentally and physically. Closer to fitness each day!!

Rodgers admitted that his Reds squad is running thin ahead of a demanding run of fixtures in late December and early January.
“Our squad is very thin at the moment, 17 players – which is unfortunate for us coming into a busy period. We just have to assess young Jon Flanagan,” Rodgers told a pre-match media conference.
“Leading into the game against Cardiff he had a tight hamstring for a few days. He was fit enough to start and play; he felt it a little bit in the game so obviously we had to take him off.
“We just need to assess how that is over the next 24 hours. At the moment, none of the guys who have been out have returned, so we’re quite thin on the ground.”
