‘Liverpool’s Sturridge & Suárez are Premier League’s best pair’
Kolo Toure believes Liverpool's Daniel Sturridge and Luis Suárez are the most lethal combination in the Premier League
Kolo Toure believes Liverpool’s Daniel Sturridge and Luis Suárez are the “best pair” in the Premier League.
The Uruguay international opened the scoring in a 3-1 victory over Crystal Palace at Anfield on Saturday, with Sturridge and Steven Gerrard sealing the emphatic win.
The Liverpool strike partnership, dubbed SAS, have now scored 11 goals in their last nine starts together in the Premier League – and a combined 33 strikes since Sturridge joined from Chelsea in January.
And Toure, who moved to Liverpool on a free transfer this summer, reckons the Reds currently boast the most lethal combination in the English top-flight, ahead of the likes of Wayne Rooney and Robin van Persie.
“I think they are top strikers. To have them is massive for us,” Toure told Liverpool’s website.
“They are the best pair in the league, definitely. They work well together, they respect each other and they are so strong up front.
“Suárez is a great player and that is why we wanted him to stay because he is a big striker and to have someone like him and Sturridge is important.
Their job is to score goals.”
