Stan Collymore reacts to Divock Origi’s winner in Liverpool FC’s 1-0 win over Everton
The former Reds striker has his say on Divock Origi's winner in Liverpool FC's 1-0 win over Everton
Stan Collymore hailed Divock Origi’s winner after the Liverpool FC striker scored an added-time winner in a 1-0 win over Everton on Sunday.
Egypt international Mo Salah had scored seven times and made three assists in 13 appearances ahead of the Merseyside derby.
However, the reigning PFA player of the year was unable to find a way past the Everton defence.
Salah registered one shot off target but the 26-year-old didn’t trouble England number Jordan Pickford.
Klopp opted to replace Salah for Daniel Sturridge in the 75th minute but it was another substitute who proved to be the match winner.
Divock Origi came off the bench to score an added-time winner after the Belgian forward had earlier missed a clearcut chance.
And Collymore referenced another famous Liverpool FC goal after he took to Twitter to celebrate the winner.
Collymore wrote on Twitter: “Barnes, Rush, Origi closing in!!! ♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️”
After Collymore’s tweet, Ian Rush himself chimed in on Twitter after the final whistle: “GET IN!!!!!!!!! JUST UNBELIEVABLE! ❤ @LFC Passionate until the very end!! 💪⚽️”
Origi has found his first-team opportunities limited at Anfield this season to raise questions about his long-term future.
Liverpool FC are facing a tough set of fixtures in December with their title challenge and Champions League participation in the balance.
Klopp’s side will make trips to Burnley and Bournemouth in their next two Premier League games before a crunch Champions League clash against Napoli at Anfield.
Manchester United will make the trip to Merseyside on 16 December before games against Newcastle United and Wolves. Liverpool FC will finish 2018 with a home clash against Arsenal.
