Liverpool FC manager Jurgen Klopp reacts to winning the Champions League for the first time

Jurgen Klopp lavished praise on his Liverpool FC players after the Reds were 2-0 winners against Tottenham Hotspur to win the Champions League final on Saturday night.
Liverpool FC were looking to win the Champions League trophy for the first time since 2005 when Rafael Benitez’s men beat AC Milan on penalties.
And it was a spot-kick that broke the deadlock in Madrid when Mohamed Salah scored with a penalty kick after Moussa Sissoko handled the ball in his own area.
Tottenham dominated possession for the remaining 88 minutes of the Champions League final but Spurs couldn’t find a way past Liverpool FC’s stubborn rearguard.
Alisson Becker made a number of saves to keep Tottenham at bay, including a fine stop to deny Christian Eriksen.
Belgian striker Divock Origi sealed a 2-0 win for Liverpool FC when the substitute placed a low finish past Spurs goalkeeper Hugo Lloris.
Klopp had previously lost two Champions League finals with both Borussia Dortmund and Liverpool FC.
However, the German coach was elated to finally get his hands on Europe’s most prestigious trophy.
“Did you ever see a team like, this, fighting with no fuel in the tank?” Klopp told BT Sport.
“And we have a keeper who makes difficult things look easy. It is the best night of our professional lives.”
Klopp added: “It took a while, it is important for our development and improvement, This little mark helps a lot, now we can carry on. The owners never put pressure on us.”
Liverpool FC have won the European Cup on six occasions but the Reds lost to AC Milan and Real Madrid in their last two Champions League showpieces.
The Reds will hope to overhaul Manchester City in the Premier League next term.
