Michael Owen makes huge claim after Liverpool FC’s 4-0 win over FC Barcelona
Former Reds striker Michael Owen gives his verdict on Liverpool FC's 4-0 win over FC Barcelona

Michael Owen hailed one of Liverpool FC’s best-ever European results after Jurgen Klopp’s side reached the Champions League final following a 4-0 victory over FC Barcelona.
Liverpool FC made the breakthrough in the seventh minute when Divock Origi finished from close range after good initial work from Jordan Henderson and Sadio Mane.
The Reds lost Andy Robertson to injury at half-time but his replacement Georginio Wijnaldum had a big impact on the tie when he scored twice in two minutes.
He managed to get on the end of Trent Alexander-Arnold’s cross to guide a finish into the net before Wijnaldum scored with a header after Xherdan Shaqiri’s cross.
Liverpool FC edged ahead for the first time in the tie with 11 minutes to go when Alexander-Arnold found Origi with a quick corner and the Belgian forward made no mistake from nine yards out.
Former Liverpool FC striker Owen raved about one of the club’s greatest nights in Europe.
“It’s up there with the best, if not the best [European nights at Anfield],” Owen told BT Sport.
“Liverpool are virtually unbeatable at this stadium in Europe.”
Liverpool FC lost 3-1 to Real Madrid in the Champions League last season, although Klopp’s side acquitted themselves well in the Kiev showpiece.
The Reds have won the European Cup on five previous occasions but haven’t lifted the Champions League trophy since 2005.
