Steven Gerrard hailed Mohamed Salah’s “phenomenal” performance after Liverpool FC were 5-0 winners against Watford at Anfield on Saturday evening.
The Reds were looking to secure a return to winning ways following the disappointment of a 2-1 loss to bitter rivals Manchester United at Old Trafford last weekend.
Salah was kept quiet during the clash at the Theatre of Dreams following an experienced performance from England international Ashley Young.
However, the summer signing required four minutes to make the breakthrough at a snow Anfield on Saturday evening after he finished from a tight angle.
Salah made it 2-0 before the break when he converted Sadio Mane’s cross from close range on the stroke of half-time to cap a dominant first-half performance.
The Egypt international turned provider when he provided a cross for Roberto Firmino, who back heeled the ball into the Watford net to the delight of The Kop.
Liverpool FC’s star player completed his hat-trick with a tenacious goal before he pounced on the rebound to make it 5-0 and take his tally to 28 goals in the Premier League.
Former Liverpool FC captain Gerrard was full of praise for Salah after another dominant performance in the Premier League.
“He’s been brilliant. It’s a phenomenal return of goals,” Gerrard told BT Sport.
On Salah’s first goal, he added: “He gets in on a one-v-one, leaves the defender on the floor and scores with his right foot. It’s a terrific finish.”
Liverpool FC signed Salah in a £39m deal from AS Roma last summer.
