Jurgen Klopp urged to sign 24-year-old for Liverpool before transfer deadline
Phil Thompson would love to see Liverpool tie up a deal to sign Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain before the transfer deadline

Phil Thompson believes that Liverpool should do what they can to complete a deal to sign Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain from Arsenal before the transfer deadline.
The Reds have been touted as a possible destination for the 24-year-old midfielder as Oxlade-Chamberlain continues to be linked with a transfer away from Arsenal.
Oxlade-Chamberlain has entered into the final 12 months of his contract at The Emirates and he does not look like he will be signing a new deal at the north London club.
Both Liverpool and Chelsea have been credited with an interest in signing the England international this summer if Arsenal do indeed decide to cash-in on the midfielder.
And former Liverpool star Thompson believes that Oxlade-Chamberlain would be a good signing for the Reds.
Speaking on Sky Sports News on Saturday, Thompson said: “I would certainly take him (at Liverpool),” the former Reds defender said on Sky Sports.
“We play with a three in there (midfield). He could play either side of (Jordan) Henderson or if Henderson doesn’t play, (Emre) Can.
“He brings drive, he brings energy to any side.
“This boy has got a lot to offer and I don’t think he’s been valued.
“I think he deserves a lot more. If he’s going to go, whether it’s Liverpool or whether it’s any of the top teams, Chelsea have been talked about, I can see him getting into a lot of those sides.”
Liverpool have signed three players so far this summer after having tied up deals for Mohamed Salah, Dominic Solanke and Andy Robertson.
The Reds booked their place in the group stage of the Champions League last week thanks to a 6-3 aggregate victory over Hoffenheim.
They will take on Spartak Moscow, Sevilla and Maribor in the group stage of Europe’s elite club competition next month.
