Michael Owen is backing Liverpool FC to come out on top in a high-scoring game against Arsenal at Anfield on Saturday evening.

Jurgen Klopp’s side are currently sitting at the top of the Premier League table following Manchester City’s 2-2 draw with Tottenham Hotspur last weekend.

Liverpool FC were 2-1 winners against Southampton in their last Premier League fixture thanks to goals from Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino on the south coast.

The Merseyside outfit have scored six times in their opening two Premier League games, but Klopp’s side have worryingly conceded in both top-flight fixtures.

Arsenal are the only other Premier League team who still have a 100 per cent record following victories over Newcastle United and Burnley in their two opening games.

Club record signing Nicolas Pepe is still waiting to make his full Premier League debut following substitute appearances in both games.

Former Liverpool FC striker Owen is backing Liverpool FC to edge to victory over Arsenal in the Premier League on Saturday afternoon.

“Something must give at Anfield on Saturday night as the only two sides with unblemished league records go head-to-head,” Owen told BetVictor.

“Despite their winning starts, neither team have been at the very top of their game so far this season, but the Reds have scored 22 goals in their last five home league games against the Gunners and I feel we will see plenty of opportunities at both ends.

“Arsenal have not won their opening two league games of the season for a decade and I would be surprised if they were able to land the hat-trick with question marks remaining about the Gunners defensive capabilities.

“It promises to be a fabulous game, but it is Liverpool to end the weekend top of the table.”

Liverpool FC finished in second place in the Premier League table last term after the Reds amassed an impressive tally of 97 points.

Klopp’s side finished a point adrift of Premier League champions Manchester City despite losing just one game in the top-flight campaign.
