Trent Alexander-Arnold reacts as Liverpool FC win Champions League
Liverpool FC star Trent Alexander-Arnold reacts to winning the Champions League with his local team
Trent Alexander-Arnold played down Liverpool FC’s subdued performance after the Reds beat Tottenham Hotspur 2-0 to win the Champions League title on Saturday night.
Liverpool FC opened the scoring in the second minute when Mohamed Salah made no mistake from the penalty spot after Moussa Sissoko was penalised for a hand ball.
Tottenham pressed for an equaliser and Alexander-Arnold was given a severe test by Dele Alli and Son Heung-min in his right-back position.
However, Liverpool FC managed to protect their slender lead before substitute Divock Origi sealed a 2-0 win with a precise finish in the 87th minute.
Alexander-Arnold was part of the Liverpool FC team that suffered a 3-1 loss to La Liga giants Real Madrid in Kiev last season despite a good performance.
And the Liverpool FC youngster was delighted to lift the Champions League trophy after coming through the club’s youth system to start under Jurgen Klopp.
“It is hard to put into words,” Alexander-Arnold told BT Sport.
“The season we have had, we deserved it more than any other team. We have done something special, we dominated the game.
“We will not look back and think it was sluggish game, we will see we are European champions. I am just a normal lad from Liverpool whose dream has just come true.”
Alexander-Arnold finished the season with one goal and 15 assists in 50 appearances in the Champions League and the Premier League this season.
The Reds defender finished the season with a staggering nine assists in 10 games to help Liverpool FC secured second spot and the Champions League title.
Liverpool FC will be hoping to overhaul Manchester City in the Premier League next term.
