Guillem Balague reveals if Philippe Coutinho will leave Liverpool FC in January
Guillem Balague delivers the latest news on the reports liking Philippe Coutinho with a move from Liverpool FC to Barcelona
Guillem Balague has revealed that Barcelona are losing hope of signing Philippe Coutinho from Liverpool FC in the January transfer window.
The Brazilian playmaker was heavily linked with a move to the Camp Nou in the summer transfer window as the Spanish giants tried to tempt the Premier League club into selling their talismanic forward.
However, Liverpool FC held firm and refused to do business with the Catalan side as Coutinho ended up staying at Anfield, despite reports of him handing in a transfer request at the Premier League club.
There is bound to be plenty of fresh speculation linking Barcelona with a fresh move to try and sign Coutinho in the January transfer window.
However, Spanish football expert Balague has appeared to indicate that a deal is looking increasingly unlikely because the Liverpool FC are still determined not to sell the talismanic forward.
Speaking to Sky Sports, Balague said: “Liverpool don’t want to sell Coutinho.
“That’s where they stand right now, so Barcelona are not optimistic about the possibility of Coutinho going there.
“Obviously they will try and they want to make an offer in January, but even Coutinho’s entourage are thinking it probably won’t happen, because Liverpool are saying the same as what they said in the summer: ‘We are not interested in selling’.”
Meanwhile, Liverpool FC are currently preparing for their Premier League clash against Swansea City on Boxing Day as they try to bounce back from the disappointment of their 3-3 draw with Arsenal on Friday night.
The Reds find themselves in fourth place in the Premier League table as they try to finish in the top four again for the second season running under Jurgen Klopp.
