Liverpool FC fans should be asking questions about Jurgen Klopp – Liam Brady
Former Arsenal midfielder Liam Brady believes Liverpool supporters should be asking questions about Jurgen Klopp's impact at Anfield
Liam Brady believes questions should be asked about Jurgen Klopp over the Liverpool manager’s inability to solve their defensive issues.
The Reds decided to appoint Klopp as Brendan Rodgers successor in October 2015 after a disappointing start to the Premier League campaign.
Klopp gained acclaim for his impressive managerial performance at Borussia Dortmund after the Bundesliga outfit won the title in successive seasons ahead of cash rich Bayern Munich.
However, the 53-year-old has failed to improve Liverpool’s defence over the past 18 months or so despite spending significant funds in the transfer market.
Klopp led Liverpool to a fourth-place finish in his first full season in charge of the Merseyside club after the Reds finished marginally ahead of rivals Arsenal.
The Merseyside outfit failed to sign Southampton defender Virgil van Dijk in the summer transfer window despite the Netherlands international’s interest in a switch to Liverpool.
Former Arsenal forward Brady has questioned Klopp’s impact at Liverpool following their 2-2 draw with La Liga outfit Sevilla in the Champions League on Tuesday night.
“He has to address it,” Brady told RTE Sport. “He hasn’t done.
“Question marks will be asked why he hasn’t. He needs to coach the players to defend better at set-pieces. If you concentrate on those things you can improve him.”
Liverpool will welcome Burnley to Anfield in their next Premier League game on Saturday afternoon in search of three points.
The Reds lost 5-0 to Manchester City at The Etihad last weekend.
