Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain has rubbished the suggestion that Liverpool FC striker Mohamed Salah is “selfish”.

The Egypt international has been accused of having a selfish streak in his game over the past 12 months or so due to a perceived unwillingness to pass the ball to his team-mates in attacking positions.

Salah was caught up in a controversial moment in Liverpool FC’s 3-0 victory over Burnley at Turf Moor earlier this month when he failed to pass the ball to Sadio Mane with the goal at the Senegal star’s mercy.

Minutes later, Mane was substituted and the Liverpool FC number 10 reacted angrily on the bench to the incident involving Salah to spark talk of a potential fallout between the pair.

However, Mane and Salah put their differences aside to both get on the score sheet in Liverpool FC’s 3-1 victory over Newcastle United at Anfield.

Speaking on Football Focus’ “Finish the Sentence”, Oxlade-Chamberlain was asked to complete the sentence: “Mohamed Salah isn’t selfish because…”

He replied: “Isn’t selfish? Are you winding me up?

“The guy doesn’t pass to us. Are you mad ask Sadio,” he added.

“No, Mo Salah isn’t selfish because he’s a goal-scorer. He’s got to do that.

“We can’t expect him to pass us the ball all the time and him to score loads of goals.

“The way he plays wins us games, so he’s got to do what he’s got to do.

“He scores, we win the game. I’m happy. Mo, do what you want!”

Salah has finished at the top of the Premier League’s goal-scoring charts in the last two seasons.

The Egypt forward netted 32 times in his first season at Liverpool FC before he shared the golden boot with Mane and Arsenal striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang last term.

Liverpool FC lost 2-0 to Serie A giants Napoli in the Champions League group-stage opener last week.
