Graeme Souness claims new Liverpool FC signing is ‘real deal’
The Liverpool FC legend heaps praise on Alisson Becker after his impressive start to the Premier League season

Graeme Souness is confident Alisson Becker will prove an excellent addition to the Liverpool FC side.
The Reds were in the market to sign a new goalkeeper after Loris Karius’ poor performance in a 3-1 loss to Real Madrid in Kiev.
Karius made two big mistakes to allow Karim Benzema and Gareth Bale to score in the Champions League final.
Liverpool FC were linked with a move to sign Alisson but the Reds were thought to be facing competition from Real Madrid.
However, the 18-time English champions signed the Brazil number one in a £67m deal from Serie A giants AS Roma.
Alisson have kept two successive clean sheets in Liverpool FC’s victories over West Ham and Crystal Palace to make a positive start to his career.
Former Liverpool FC star Souness heaped praise on Alisson after his big money move to the 18-time English champions.
“The new goalkeeper will improve him if he is the real deal. He looks it.,” Souness told Irish radio station Newstalk.
“No matter who Liverpool signed, they were going to have to pay a premium and an exaggerated fee due to their desperate need for a goalkeeper. There’s an expectancy that comes with big-money signings and I’m interested to see if Alisson can replicate the form he had for Roma in that environment.
“He is a very good goalkeeper and he’s very commanding, but there’s a pressure at Anfield that he wouldn’t have had while playing for Roma. The Premier League is very different from the Serie A too, but he looks like an excellent signing and exactly what Liverpool needed.”
Liverpool FC finished in fourth spot in the Premier League table last season after a strong finish to the 2017-18 season.
The Reds signed AS Monaco star Fabinho, RB Leipzig midfielder Naby Keita, Stoke City playmaker Xherdan Shaqiri and AS Roma’s Alisson in the summer.
