The Liverpool FC legend heaps praise on Andy Robertson for his performance in a 1-0 win over Brighton
Stan Collymore has heaped praise on Andy Robertson for his contribution in Liverpool FC’s 1-0 win over Brighton and Hove Albion on Saturday.
The Scotland international proved a constant menace down the left wing as Liverpool FC edged to narrow victory courtesy of Mohamed Salah’s winner.
Robertson moved to Liverpool FC in an £8m deal from Championship side Hull City in the 2017 summer transfer window to provide Alberto Moreno with competition.
The 24-year-old established himself as Jurgen Klopp’s first-choice left-back at the start of 2018 and Robertson hasn’t looked back over the past eight months or so.
Indeed, the Scottish full-back started Liverpool FC’s 3-0 loss to La Liga side Real Madrid in the Champions League final in Kiev back in May.
Former Liverpool FC striker Collymore praised Robertson’s ability to support Jurgen Klopp’s attack from his position on the left side of their defence.
“Like Van Dijk, Robertson has revolutionised Klopp’s defence – but for a lot less,” Collymore told the Daily Mirror.
“Commanding in a traditional left-back role, the Scot offers so much going forward too and found Roberto Firmino with countless crosses into the area.”
Robertson’s only goal in the 2017-18 season came in a 4-0 win over Brighton and Hove Albion in their final game of the campaign.
The Scottish star made 33 appearances in all competitions in his first season at the Merseyside outfit.
Liverpool FC haven’t won the Premier League title but have finished in second place in 2002, 2009 and 2014.
