Frank Lampard talks up Liverpool FC’s Champions League hopes
The Chelsea FC legend believes Liverpool FC have a good shot at winning the Champions League crown this season

Frank Lampard insists Liverpool FC have the components required to win the Champions League title this season.
The Reds are one of two Premier League teams left in the Champions League following a comfortable win over FC Porto in the last-16 stage.
Jurgen Klopp’s side were 5-0 winners against the 2004 champions in Portugal following Sadio Mane’s hat-trick plus goals from Mohamed Salah and Roberto Firmino.
Liverpool FC eased to a goalless draw in the second leg at Anfield to secure their passage to the Champions League quarter-finals.
The Reds have scored more goals in the Champions League than any other team in the 2017-18 season to highlight their goal-scoring prowess under Klopp.
Liverpool FC signed Netherlands international Virgil van Dijk in a £75m deal from Premier League rivals Southampton in the January transfer window.
The world’s most expensive defender has helped to improve Klopp’s back four ahead of the final months of the 2017-18 campaign.
Liverpool FC’s home support played a huge role in their Champions League triumph in 2005 as Liverpool FC beat Chelsea FC and Juventus at Anfield en route to the final.
Former Chelsea FC midfielder Lampard believes Liverpool FC are capable of challenging for the Champions League crown this term.
“Liverpool’s front three, their style of play… I think it works very well for cup football,” Lampard told BT Sport.
“Especially when you’re travelling away from home, they counter-attack at speed and that front three in particular…
“You add that to the atmosphere that they create at Anfield at home – not many teams are used to that.
“We know what it’s like in the Premier League but it’s going to be very intimidating for other teams.”
