The Liverpool FC manager discusses Daniel Sturridge's future at the Anfield outfit
Jurgen Klopp has heaped praise on Daniel Sturridge ahead of Liverpool FC’s opening clash against West Ham United at Anfield on Sunday afternoon.
The Reds have welcomed Sturridge back to the Liverpool FC squad following his brief stint on loan at relegated West Bromwich Albion last term.
The 28-year-old has a point to prove following an injury-hit spell at the Anfield outfit under the former Borussia Dortmund manager.
Klopp has retained Sturridge’s services despite having the chance to permanently offload the Liverpool FC striker.
The former Chelsea FC star is facing competition for a starting spot from Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino.
Sturridge will be hoping to secure a place in Klopp’s team for their home clash against Manuel Pellegrino’s West Ham side.
Speaking at his pre-match media conference ahead of their home clash against Liverpool FC against West Ham, Klopp said:
“I can’t remember a bad game from him in the pre-season, to be honest.
“That’s absolutely good. I said it probably 500 times already: if Daniel is fit, nobody doubts Daniel. So, I do not. He is here in a good shape and hopefully he can bring that into the season as well.”
Liverpool FC signed AS Monaco midfielder Fabinho, RB Leipzig star Naby Keita, Stoke City playmaker Xherdan Shaqiri and AS Roma goalkeeper Alisson Becker in the 2018 summer transfer window.
The Reds haven’t won the Premier League title but finished in second place in 2002, 2009 and 2014.
Liverpool FC lost 3-1 to Real Madrid in the Champions League final in Kiev back in May.
