Jose Enrique tips 39-year-old to become next Liverpool FC manager
Former Reds defender Jose Enrique tips Steven Gerrard to become the next Liverpool FC manager
Jose Enrique says Steven Gerrard will be the next Liverpool FC manager when Jurgen Klopp decides to step down.
The current Reds boss has helped his side make a brilliant start to the Premier League campaign following eight successive victories.
Liverpool FC haven’t put a foot wrong in the title race so far to lay down an early marker as Manchester City continue to drop points.
Klopp’s men are undoubtedly the form team in the Premier League after victories over Arsenal, Chelsea FC and Leicester City so far this term.
The German head coach won his first major trophy as Liverpool FC boss last season following their 2-0 win against Tottenham Hotspur in the Champions League final.
Although Klopp ended his trophy drought in his third full season in charge, the former Borussia Dortmund boss has unfinished business as Liverpool FC look to win the Premier League for the first time.
Gerrard, meanwhile, is transforming his Rangers side into title challengers after he took over the reins of the Scottish club at the start of the 2018-19 season.
Former Liverpool FC defender Enrique believes Gerrard has all the attributes to become the next Reds boss when Klopp does finally decide to part company with the Merseyside outfit.
“He is doing a great job. He did well last year and is now doing even better,” Enrique told the Liverpool Echo.
“We’re probably looking at the future Liverpool manager when Jurgen Klopp doesn’t want to manage as well. I wish him the best.”
Gerrard won the Champions League title as a player with Liverpool FC in 2005.
