Jose Mourinho has accused Liverpool FC of trying to buy the title following their summer of investment.
The Reds finished in fourth place in the Premier League table last season to ensure their continued participation in the Champions League under Jurgen Klopp.
Liverpool FC have sought to improve their squad with the addition of Brazil international Fabinho in a £39m deal from Ligue 1 side AS Monaco back in June.
Naby Keita completed a £48m switch to Liverpool FC from RB Leipzig to further bolster Klopp’s options in the middle of the park ahead of the new Premier League campaign.
Liverpool FC spent £13.5m on Switzerland international Xherdan Shaqiri following Stoke City’s demotion to the Championship.
Klopp addressed a key weakness in his team with the £67m signing of Brazil international Alisson Becker from AS Roma.
Liverpool FC were 4-0 winners against West Ham United in their opening Premier League fixture last weekend.

“When I read sometimes and watch sometimes, it looks like we finished sixth or seventh (last season) and everybody did better than us. We finished second,” Mourinho told Sky Sports.
“Liverpool are trying to win the title with their amazing investment. Chelsea have a fantastic squad, Manchester City have a fantastic squad too, Tottenham made an incredible investment by keeping their players, that’s the best investment you can make.”
Liverpool FC will take on London side Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park on Monday night in search of successive victories to start the season.
The Reds haven’t won the Premier League crown in their decorated history.
