Mark Lawrenson sends message to Jurgen Klopp about Liverpool FC goalkeepers
The Liverpool FC legend doesn't believe Jurgen Klopp has improved Loris Karius and Simon Mignolet
Mark Lawrenson believes Jurgen Klopp has improved most of the Liverpool FC squad with the exception of the goalkeepers.
The Reds appointed the charismatic German head coach as their new manager in October 2015 following a difficult start to the season under Brendan Rodgers.
Klopp stuck with Simon Mignolet in the 2015-16 season before the former Borussia Dortmund boss signed Loris Karius in a £4.7m deal from Mainz in June 2016.
Karius struggled to impose himself as the first-choice goalkeeper and Mignolet ended the 2016-17 in the Liverpool FC starting line up.
Klopp made the decision to promote Karius to his starting XI towards the end of 2017 and the Germany Under-21 international impressed in the Liverpool FC team.
However, the Liverpool FC number one endured a disastrous performance in the Champions League after his two mistakes helped Real Madrid to ease to a 3-1 win against the Reds.
Former Liverpool FC defender Lawrenson believes Klopp hasn’t been able to improve Karius or Mignolet.
“Klopp has improved all the players but the goalkeepers,” Lawrenson told BBC Radio 5 Live. “It may be just a coincidence.”
Liverpool FC finished in the top four in the Premier League for the second successive season to ensure their continued participation in the Champions League.
The Reds signed Brazil international Fabinho in a £40m deal from AS Monaco earlier this week.
