Jurgen Klopp has urged the Liverpool FC owners to prove that the Reds aren’t a selling club.

The Merseyside outfit appear to be in a good position to challenge Manchester City, Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur for the Premier League title next season.

Liverpool FC have bolster their midfield with the additions of AS Monaco’s Brazilian Fabinho and RB Leipzig star Naby Keita in the summer transfer window.

The 18-time English champions signed Xherdan Shaqiri in a cut-price £13.5m deal from relegated Stoke City following his exploits at the World Cup with Switzerland.

Perhaps the most exciting addition to the Liverpool FC squad is AS Roma and Brazil number one Alisson Becker in a world record £67m fee for a goalkeeper.

Klopp won successive Bundesliga titles and finished as a Champions League runner up during seven season spell at Borussia Dortmund.

However, the German club eventually regressed under Klopp after BVB sold key stars such as Mario Gotze and Robert Lewandowski.

Klopp is hopeful that Liverpool FC can avoid the same fate as his impressive Dortmund side.

“Years ago I was at Dortmund,” Klopp told BBC Sport. “If they had let us play for the next four years with the Dortmund team of 2011 we would have won the Champions League at least once.

“They were 19/20 years old. It was an unbelievable team and we were lucky to bring them all together. We have not exactly the same [at Liverpool] but it is similar.

“In the past for Liverpool it was the same situation. Torres, Suarez, Coutinho, Sterling. They were sold. That is true. The only thing that means for us now is that we are responsible. We cannot blame anybody. We cannot say ‘he is not there any more’.

“You have to use the quality and don’t rely on individuals to make a difference. Football is not like this.

“City wasn’t champions last season because they had the best players in every position. They played outstandingly well and fantastic football. That was the reason.”

Liverpool FC have sold Philippe Coutinho and Emre Can since Klopp took over the reins at the Merseyside outfit.
