Jurgen Klopp believes Liverpool FC have three quality goalkeepers in their ranks ahead of the new Premier League season.
The Reds were widely tipped to sign a new goalkeeper in the summer transfer window after Loris Karius made two mistakes in Liverpool FC’s 3-1 loss to La Liga giants Real Madrid in the Champions League final.
The German shot stopper has struggled for consistency since stepping up to the Liverpool FC firs-team to replace Simon Mignolet, who has also been inconsistent throughout his five-year career at Anfield.
The Reds spent a world record transfer fee for a shot stopper on AS Roma goalkeeper Alisson Becker after the Brazil number one completed a £67m move to the Anfield outfit.
Mignolet has been linked with a potential move to FC Barcelona and Besiktas, while doubt has been cast on Karius’ future at the Merseyside outfit in the long-term.
Speaking to ESPN about the goalkeeper situation at Liverpool FC ahead of the new season, Klopp said:
“We are really fine with our goalkeepers,” he said. “So there’s no doubts Simon Mignolet — big quality, absolutely Premier League highest-level quality, Loris Karius as well.
“Yes, we all know what happened in the [Champions League] final, but we know as well why it’s not about that.
“It’s not the reason. We really wanted to bring in a player which we didn’t have before to be honest and that’s what happened with Alisson.”
Liverpool FC finished in fourth place in the Premier League table last season to ensure their continued participation in the Champions League.
