Jurgen Klopp: Even my wife knew how much I wanted Liverpool FC job
Jurgen Klopp claims even his wife knew how much he wanted the Liverpool FC role

Jurgen Klopp has revealed that even the German’s wife understood how much he wanted to take over the reins of Liverpool FC.
The 50-year-old has been in charge at Anfield for around 21 months following Brendan Rodgers’ dismissal as Liverpool FC manager in October 2015.
Klopp led Liverpool FC to the League Cup and Europa League finals in his first season on Merseyside but the Reds lost to Manchester City and Sevilla.
The Merseyside outfit improved upon their seventh spot in 2015-16 season with a fourth-placed finish last season to secure a return to the Champions League after a two-season absence.
Klopp’s biggest challenge will be leading Liverpool FC to their first Premier League title after finishing in second place in 2002, 2009 and 2014.
Liverpool FC signed Virgil van Dijk in a club record £75m deal from Southampton in the January transfer window to make the Dutch defender the most expensive defender in the world.
The German coach has a team seemingly capable of challenging for the title in coming seasons if Klopp can improve their consistency and sign a new goalkeeper.
Asked about whether he felt Liverpool FC was always the club for him, Klopp told Sky Sports: “To be honest? Yes. I’m a football romantic.
“I’m confident but not as confident as other managers, thinking this club will call, that club will call. A lot of clubs called and I said ‘No, no chance, I need to make a break now’. Even my wife knew, if Liverpool is calling, I go.”
