Liverpool FC sent clear warning about January signings
Steve Nicol warns Liverpool FC that they need someone else to choose their transfer targets in January

Steve Nicol has warned Liverpool that they need to rely on someone other than Jurgen Klopp to make the right signings in the January transfer window.
The Reds have been heavily criticised in recent weeks after a stuttering start to the new campaign for the Merseyside outfit.
Liverpool were thrashed 4-1 by Tottenham at Wembley last weekend to raise further questions about their defence.
The Merseyside outfit have only won three of their opening nine games in the Premier League this season to leave their top-four hopes in serious doubt.
Nicol has not been at all impressed by the signings Klopp has made as Liverpool boss and feels that the Merseyside outfit should turn to someone else to identify potential targets.
Speaking to ESPN FC, Nicol said: “The problem I have is Liverpool having to go and buy a back four, they’re going to have to pay over the odds because it’s January. No (you don’t trust Jurgen Klopp with £150m).
“How could anybody rationally turn round and say: ‘I trust Klopp to go and buy a defender’? Since he’s come to the club, what two-and-a-half years? They’re not any better than they were when he started.
“The Liverpool board are going to have to look at this and decide whether they bring somebody in, and a goalie, to have somebody who can spot a defender. He clearly can’t.”
Liverpool will look to get back to winning ways in the Premier League when they take on Huddersfield Town at Anfield on Saturday.
The Terriers head into that game fresh from having secured a shock 2-1 victory over Manchester United last weekend.
Liverpool, who appointed Klopp as manager back in 2015, finished fourth in the Premier League last season but it seems they will face a battle to secure another top-four finish this time around.
