Mark Lawrenson has admitted that he’s worried about Adrian after the Liverpool FC goalkeeper’s uncomfortable start to his Anfield career.

The Reds signed Adrian in a free transfer in the summer transfer window after West Ham United released the 32-year-old shot-stopper at the end of the 2018-19 Premier League season.

Adrian conceded on his debut in Liverpool FC’s 4-1 victory over Norwich City in their Premier League opener at Anfield earlier this month after Alisson Becker suffered a calf problem.

The former Hammers goalkeeper conceded a penalty in the Uefa Super Cup as Liverpool FC and Chelsea FC played out a 2-2 draw after 120 minutes.

But Adrian made amends in the penalty shootout when the Liverpool FC signing stopped Tammy Abraham’s decisive spot-kick to win the cup for the Reds.

The Liverpool FC number two directly cost Jurgen Klopp’s side a goal in his third appearance after his pass deflected off Danny Ings into his own goal in a 2-1 win at Southampton.

Although Adrian didn’t make any mistakes that cost Liverpool FC a goal in a 3-1 win against Arsenal on Saturday evening, the summer signing’s distribution was ropey at times.

Former Liverpool FC defender Lawrenson admitted that he’s concerned about Adrian’s performances so far.

“The goalkeeper worries me,” Lawrenson told LFC TV, as quoted by Metro.

“I just think he’s sort of, last two games, made the mistake at Southampton when he shouldn’t have been under any pressure and he got away with a big one today.

“He should have let [Virgil] van Dijk just sort that situation out and he came running off his line.

“He just worries me a bit and I know he’s experienced and everything but there’s a reason why nobody else was taking him.

“I get that [that Adrian hasn’t been Liverpool for long] but do you know something, that decision he made today doesn’t matter whether you’ve been there a minute or a thousand minutes with somebody, it’s his decision making.

“Obviously the one at Southampton as well and I think the manager will obviously always, always back him because Alisson’s probably not fit until after the international break. ‘But he just worries me a little bit.”

Alisson finished with the best clean sheet record in the Premier League last term.
