Didier Drogba identifies Liverpool FC player who can become Reds captain
The Chelsea legend is tipping Mohamed Salah to become a future Liverpool FC captain
Didier Drogba believes Mohamed Salah has the necessary attributes to become a future Liverpool FC captain.
The Reds signed Salah in a £39m deal from Serie A giants AS Roma in the summer transfer window to bolster their attacking options.
The Egypt international has scored 22 goals in 26 games in the Premier League this season after his strike in Liverpool FC’s 2-0 win at Southampton on Sunday evening.
The 25-year-old is one goal shy of Harry Kane’s tally of 23 at the top of the division’s goal-scoring charts in an incredible first season at Anfield.
Salah has netted 29 times in all competitions to establish himself as Jurgen Klopp’s key player since Philippe Coutinho’s £142m move to Barcelona last month.
The African forward was team-mates with Drogba for eight months at Chelsea FC in 2014 before he sealed a move to Serie A giants.
Former Chelsea FC forward Drogba believes Salah’s ability to lead by example makes him an ideal candidate to become a future Liverpool FC captain.
“I think he has got it in him,” Drogba told The Sun.
“He is someone who you will respect if you share a dressing room with him.
“You expect a captain to put all the players together and you can see he does that.
“He seems quiet but being quiet does not mean he is not a leader. He leads by example.”
Salah will be hoping to continue his prolific form in the Champions League on Wednesday night when Liverpool FC make the trip to Portuguese giants in the first leg of their last-16 clash.
