Jordan Henderson admits he was impressed with Mohamed Salah as soon as the Liverpool FC summer signing linked up with his new team-mates.

The Reds signed Salah in a £39m deal from Serie A giants AS Roma in the 2017 summer transfer window to bolster their attacking options under Jurgen Klopp.

The 25-year-old hit the ground running with a goal on his debut in Liverpool FC’s 3-3 draw with Watford in their opening Premier League game of the 2017-18 campaign.

Salah’s goal in a 4-1 win against West Ham United at Anfield last weekend took his tally to 23 goals in the Premier League in the current campaign.

The Egypt international has netted 31 times in all competitions to impress in both the Champions League and the Premier League in his debut season at the Anfield outfit.

Henderson praised Salah for his unselfish attitude in the Liverpool FC team after forging a devastating partnership with Roberto Firmino and Sadio Mane.

“From the moment he linked up with us in pre-season you thought,” Henderson is quoted as saying by the Daily Express.

“This lad can play’ – but since then he’s kicked on again, and he’s going from strength to strength.

“Confidence has played a big part in that, and he’s playing full of confidence now. He’s scored so many goals, in so many different ways, and he’s been a massive influence for us.

“If he keeps performing at his current level, he’s definitely up there for the Premier League’s player of the season.

“Top players are quick to develop an understanding on the pitch in terms of their movement and the thing I really like about the three of them – Firmino, Salah, Mane – is that they don’t really care who scores the goals.

“A lot of strikers are selfish by nature, but they enjoy each other’s success and they appreciate the team giving them a platform to make things happen in the final third.”

Liverpool FC are in third place in the Premier League table and face a difficult battle with Chelsea FC, Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur to secure a spot in the Champions League.

The Reds signed Virgil van Dijk in a club record £75m deal from Southampton in the 2018 January transfer window.
