Martin Keown tells Liverpool FC fans what’s wrong with Mo Salah
The Arsenal legend believes Mohamed Salah is playing within himself in the Liverpool FC team
Martin Keown has suggested that Liverpool FC forward Mo Salah is playing within himself following his injury in the Champions League final.
The Egypt international scored 43 times in his first season at Liverpool FC following a £39m move from Serie A giants AS Roma last summer.
Salah scored 10 times to help Liverpool FC reach the Champions League final before he suffered a dislocated shoulder in the 3-1 loss to Real Madrid.
The former Chelsea FC striker suffered the injury following the clash with Real Madrid captain Sergio Ramos in Kiev.
The 25-year-old has managed to score two goals in Liverpool FC’s opening six fixtures in the current campaign.
Salah found the net in a 4-0 win over West Ham United before the reigning PFA player of the year scored in a 1-0 victory over Brighton.
The African forward struggled in Liverpool FC’s 3-2 win against Paris Saint-Germain in their opening Champions League fixture.
Salah conceded possession at a key moment in the European tie to allow Kylian Mbappe to equalise with six minutes to go.
With the Liverpool FC number 11 off the pitch, substitute Roberto Firmino netted a dramatic winner in added time.
Former Arsenal defender Keown believes Salah still hasn’t recovered from his Champions League final injury.
“Has Salah been the same since his shoulder was dislocated by Sergio Ramos?” Keown told the Daily Mail.
“Ever since he has seemed to be playing within himself. He lost possession 21 times against Paris Saint-Germain and it was his mistake that led to their equaliser.
“He looks particularly reluctant to use his physicality to protect the ball. Daniel Sturridge was far more effective in that regard, losing possession just seven times.
“Is Salah concerned about picking up another injury?”
Liverpool FC will take on Napoli in Italy in their next Champions League group stage fixture.
