Paul Merson: Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain suits Liverpool FC, he’s so quick
The Arsenal legend believes Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain is well suited to Liverpool FC's style of play

Paul Merson believes Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain is well-suited to Liverpool FC.
The England international completed a £40m move to Liverpool FC from Arsenal in the summer transfer window despite interest from defending Premier League champions Chelsea.
Oxlade-Chamberlain arrived at Liverpool FC with a tough task on his hands to break into Jurgen Klopp’s first-team given the wealth of talent already at his disposal.
Indeed, Philippe Coutinho, Roberto Firmino and Sadio Mane all impressed during the 2017-18 season but Klopp’s attack has been further boosted by the arrival of Mohamed Salah and Oxlade-Chamberlain.
While the Egypt international has been in sensational form since his move to Liverpool FC from AS Roma in the summer, Oxlade-Chamberlain has been more of a slow burner and struggled to break into the starting line-up until the start of November.
The 24-year-old versatile midfielder has now scored two goals and has also made two assists in 17 appearances in the Premier League this term following his £40m switch from Premier League rivals Arsenal.
Former Gunners midfielder Merson believes Oxlade-Chamberlain is well-suited to Liverpool FC’s attacking brand of football.
“He probably suits Liverpool. He is quick. He can counter,” Merson told Sky Sports.
“They have plenty of pace up front. If you have those Liverpool front three up front and you play in midfielder, it’s nice.”
Liverpool FC made Oxlade-Chamberlain their fourth summer signing.
The Reds finished in fourth place in their first full season under Klopp’s management.
