Jamie Carragher: Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain proving why Liverpool FC signed him
The Liverpool legend lavishes praise on Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain for his performances at the Anfield outfit so far

Jamie Carragher believes Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain is starting to prove why Liverpool FC signed the Arsenal midfielder in the summer.
The England international completed a £40m switch to Liverpool FC on transfer deadline day despite interest from defending Premier League champions Chelsea.
Questions were raised about Jurgen Klopp’s decision to sign Oxlade-Chamberlain given the plethora of midfielders already at his disposal.
Oxlade-Chamberlain scored Liverpool FC’s fifth goal in a 5-0 win against Swansea City at Anfield to polish off a commanding performance from the Reds.
Klopp used Oxlade-Chamberlain sparingly in the opening months of the 2017-18 season but the England star has established himself as a first-team regular in recent weeks.
Indeed, the 24-year-old has started eight games and made 14 substitute appearances, yielding a return of three goals and two assists.
Former Liverpool FC defender Carragher praised Oxlade-Chamberlain for his commitment and persistance in Klopp’s team.
“It will give him a great lift going forward,” Carragher told Sky Sports.
“We are starting to see why Klopp brought to him to the club. There were a lot of questions about where he was going to fit? Was he just going to be on the bench? Now he is starting to repay Klopp.”
Oxlade-Chamberlain won three FA Cup crowns during seven seasons at Arsenal but he never challenged for the Premier League title with the north London club.
The Reds will take on Portuguese side FC Porto in the Champions League last 16 in February in search of a first European title since their 2005 triumph in Istanbul.
