Steven Gerrard believes Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain has adapted to Liverpool FC’s style of play under Jurgen Klopp.

The England international moved to the Anfield outfit in a £40m deal from Arsenal on transfer deadline day last summer.

Oxlade-Chamberlain struggled to fulfill his talent at the north London side following his move to Arsenal from Southampton in 2010.

The 24-year-old was initially used sparingly in the Liverpool FC team under Klopp as the summer signing adjusted to his new club.

Oxlade-Chamberlain has impressed in recent weeks with a number of assists to help Liverpool FC go on a five-game winning run.

The England star teed up Mohamed Salah to make the breakthrough in the first half of their 2-0 win over Newcastle United at Anfield last weekend.

Former Liverpool FC captain Gerrard believes Oxlade-Chamberlain is getting to grips with life at Anfield.

“It took him a little bit of time to adapt, like it did with Virgil van Dijk,” Gerrard told BT Sport.

“Jurgen Klopp’s way is full-throttle, high energy and playing 100 per cent on the break. He’s come from a possession team so it was always going to take time for him to adapt to Jurgen’s way.

“But good players adapt and they adapt quickly. To be fair to Alex, he’s worked hard, he was patient and he didn’t complain.

“He knew himself that it was about him adapting to Liverpool FC rather than the other way around. He’s done it very well.”

Oxlade-Chamberlain has scored three goals and has made five assists in 26 appearances in the Premier League this term.

The English star will be hoping to line up for Liverpool FC against Porto in the second leg of their Champions League last-16 clash last month.

The Reds were emphatic 5-0 winners against 2004 winners Porto in the first leg in Portugal last month.
