Paul Merson: Why Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain is doing so well at Liverpool FC
The Arsenal legend explains why Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain has proven such a hit at Liverpool FC

Paul Merson believes Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain is thriving at Liverpool FC because the England midfielder is seeing more of the ball.
The Liverpool FC summer signing scored the Merseyside outfit’s fifth goal in a 5-0 an emphatic win over Swansea City at Anfield on Boxing Day to cap an impressive start to his Anfield career.
Oxlade-Chamberlain was omitted from Jurgen Klopp’s starting line-up for their dramatic 3-3 draw with his former club Arsenal last week before the versatile midfielder came on as a late substitute.
The Reds signed Oxlade-Chamberlain in a £40m deal from top-six rivals Arsenal on transfer deadline day in the summer but Klopp used his new addition sparingly in the opening months of the season.
However, the Liverpool number 21 has since become a first-team regular with two goals and two assists in 17 appearances in all competitions.
Former Arsenal star Merson attempted to explain why Oxlade-Chamberlain is doing so well at the Anfield outfit.
“What helps him at the moment is his Liverpool team-mates are giving him the ball,” Merson told Sky Sports.
“He makes things happen. Henderson won’t put the ball through the eye of the needle. He is getting more of the ball.”
Oxlade-Chamberlain won the FA Cup three times during seven seasons at Arsenal before his deadline day move to Liverpool FC.
The Reds signed four players in the summer transfer window to improve their squad ahead of a return to the Champions League.
