Liverpool are not interested in selling Philippe Coutinho to Barcelona this summer and will not be “bullied” into a deal, according to Kaveh Solhekol.

The Brazilian playmaker’s future has been a relentless source of speculation in recent weeks as Barcelona continue to be linked with a move for the 25-year-old.

Liverpool are said to have rejected a fresh £90m bid for Coutinho on Wednesday as they continue to stand firm in their stance that the attacker is not for sale.

And Sky Sports News reporter Solhekol has confirmed that the Reds have no intention of cashing in on the Brazil international this summer.

Speaking on Sky Sports News on Thursday morning, Solhekol said: “More developments about the future of Philippe Coutinho.

“The position here is that Liverpool are refusing to be bullied.

“Yesterday they turned down a bid worth around £90m from Barcelona, that was £77m up front and about £13m in add-ons.

“Crucially for Liverpool, Coutinho signed a new five-year deal in January and there’s no release clause in that contract. Liverpool’s position is very clear, Coutinho is not for sale.”

Liverpool are currently preparing for their opening Premier League game of the season when they take on Watford at Vicarage Road on Saturday lunchtime.

Jurgen Klopp will be hoping to steer the Reds towards a title challenge after they ended up in fourth place in the Premier League table last term.

The Reds will take on Hoffenheim for a place in the Champions League group stage later this month as they look to make their mark in Europe’s elite club competition for the first time under new boss Klopp.
