Raheem Sterling has revealed that he was delighted to see Liverpool FC reach the Champions League final after a 4-0 victory over FC Barcelona on Tuesday night.

The Merseyside outfit looked to be heading out of the Champions League at the semi-final stage after Liverpool FC lost 3-0 to the Spanish side in the first leg.

Liverpool FC mounted an incredible comeback in the return fixture after Divock Origi and Georginio Wijnaldum both scored two goals in a 4-0 win over FC Barcelona.

Jurgen Klopp’s side will take on Tottenham Hotspur in the Champions League final on Saturday 1 June as the German head coach looks to win his major trophy at the Anfield outfit.

Sterling spent five years at Liverpool FC before he completed a £51m move to Manchester City in the 2015 summer transfer window.

The England international admitted that he was pleased to see his former club reach the Champions League final.

“I was really happy for Liverpool, I was buzzing,” Sterling is quoted as saying by Metro.

“People might not believe me but it’s true. Seeing some of the boys like Hendo and Trent in the final makes me happy, I’m really happy for them.”

Sterling won the FWA’s Player of the Year award on Thursday night to cap a special season for the Manchester City forward.

The England forward has netted 23 goals in 47 games in all competitions for the Citizens.

The Merseyside outfit are in second place in the Premier League table and a point adrift of Manchester City with one game left to play.
