Jurgen Klopp replies when asked if he’s worried about Roberto Firmino’s Liverpool FC form
The Liverpool FC manager discusses Roberto Firmino's performances at the Merseyside outfit this season
Jurgen Klopp is adamant that he isn’t worried about Roberto Firmino’s form in the Liverpool FC team.
The Brazil international has struggled somewhat in front of goal in the current campaign to raise questions about his confidence and form.
Firmino has only scored four goals in 15 appearances in the Premier League this season despite Klopp adding more talent to his team this summer.
The 27-year-old found the net in a 3-0 win at Watford to end a run of seven Premier League games without a goal.
The South American forward netted 15 times in the Premier League last term to secure a career-best return for an individual campaign.
Firmino did show some signs of improvement on Wednesday night when he scored in Liverpool FC’s 3-1 win over Burnley in the Premier League.
However, Klopp’s front three haven’t quite clicked in the current campaign despite Liverpool FC managing to keep pace with Premier League leaders Manchester City.
Speaking at his pre-match media conference ahead of Liverpool FC’s trip to Burnley in the Premier League on Wednesday night, Klopp said:
“It’s absolutely OK. It’s not that he plays his best football in each segment of the game but he is just an important player.
“That’s how it is with a player’s career; you have these moments where you fly and you cannot really explain it, and other moments where you have to work a bit harder to come again in the moment where you fly. That’s exactly the case for him.
“It’s nothing to worry about or anything. It’s just a normal football season. We all have to go through these little holes or whatever and then everything will be fine again, especially with him because his attitude is absolutely phenomenal.
“That makes it easier for him, he will never stop. That’s good, so everything will be fine.”
Liverpool FC signed Firmino in a £29m deal from Bundesliga side Hoffenheim in the 2015 summer transfer window under Klopp’s predecessor Brendan Rodgers.
Firmino has made steady improvement in the Liverpool FC team since Klopp took over the reins from Rodgers in October 2015.
The Brazilian forward netted 27 goals in 51 games in all competitions last season to play a key role in their run to the Champions League final.
