Tim Sherwood is backing Liverpool FC to finish in second place behind Manchester City in the Premier League table this season.

The Reds have impressed in recent weeks following four victories and one stalemate in their last five outings in all competitions.

Liverpool FC were 5-0 winners against FC Porto in the first leg of their Champions League last-16 clash in Portugal last month.

In fact, the Merseyside outfit have scored 16 times in their last five games to continue their prolific form under Jurgen Klopp.

The Reds hoisted themselves above Manchester United and into second place following a 4-1 win over West Ham United on Saturday afternoon.

Jose Mourinho’s men moved back above Liverpool FC following a 2-1 win against defending Premier League champions Chelsea FC at Old Trafford on Sunday.

Liverpool FC will make the trip to Manchester United in their crunch clash at Old Trafford on Saturday 10 March.

Former Spurs boss Sherwood is confident Liverpool FC will secure runners-up spot in the Premier League top-four race this term.

“I think Liverpool will finish in second behind Man City,” Sherwood told The Debate on Sky Sports on Monday night.

Liverpool FC finished in fourth place in the Premier League table last term to secure a return to the Champions League for the first time under Klopp.

The Reds haven’t won the Champions League title since 2005.
