Frank Lampard opens up about Philippe Coutinho at Liverpool FC
Frank Lampard heaps praise on Philippe Coutinho following his fine form for Liverpool FC this season
Frank Lampard has admitted that he is a huge admirer of Philippe Coutinho at Liverpool FC.
The Brazilian playmaker has been in top form for the Merseyside outfit so far this term after the relentless speculation about his future in the summer transfer window.
Coutinho was heavily linked with a transfer to Barcelona during the summer but Liverpool FC held firm and decided not to cash in on their talismanic forward.
The 25-year-old has been in fine form so far for the Reds this season and has formed a deadly understanding with Mohamed Salah, Roberto Firmino and Sadio Mane.
Coutinho was once again in fine form as he helped Liverpool FC to book their place in the last 16 of the Champions League in style on Wednesday night with a 7-0 thrashing of Spartak Moscow at Anfield.
And former Chelsea star Lampard has admitted that he has been incredibly impressed by the Brazilian’s development at Anfield in recent years.
Speaking to BT Sport last week, Lampard said: “What impresses me is that with the brilliant football we see, he doesn’t have to do the brilliant skill. He can do the simple passes in lightning speed.
“They’re really unplayable when they do it. The top players don’t always do the tricks.”
Asked about Coutinho’s price-tag now, Lampard added: “They [Liverpool FC] will probably want £20m extra. They will want to keep him. On this form, he is one of the best players out there.”
Liverpool FC are poised to discover their opponents for the last 16 of the Champions League on Monday when the draw is made in Nyon.
The Reds return to Premier League action with a home clash against West Bromwich Albion on Wednesday night.
