Danny Mills says Manchester City are favourites to win the Premier League title after Liverpool FC’s recent blip.

The Reds have endured a challenging two weeks after missing out on the chance to establish a commanding seven-point lead at the top of the Premier League table.

Liverpool FC were gifted the opportunity to open up some clear daylight between themselves and the defending champions when Manchester City lost at Newcastle United last month.

However, the Merseyside outfit were held to a frustrating 1-1 draw with Leicester City at Anfield before the Citizens narrowed the gap with a 3-1 win over Arsenal.

Jurgen Klopp’s side dropped another two points from a winning position when West Ham managed to hold Liverpool FC to a 1-1 draw on Monday night.

Manchester City made the most of the chance to hoist themselves into top spot on goal difference with a 2-0 win at Everton on Wednesday night.

The Citizens have played one game more than their title rivals but the pressure is on Liverpool FC to get a positive result against Bournemouth this weekend.

Former Manchester City defender and Sky Sports pundit Mills believes the title pressure has swung in the favour of Pep Guardiola’s side after a fortnight of twists and turns.

“Liverpool have had a bit of a blip, I think that’s all it is at the moment,” Mills told Sky Sports. “But the pressure has swung massively in Man City’s favour.

“Liverpool had a nine-point lead not so long ago, that’s gone. For City to go ahead, even when they’ve lost recently, the likes of the Newcastle game, now the pressure is all on Liverpool.

“City have been there, they’ve done it, they’ve won the league several times in the last few years, Liverpool are approaching 30 years since they last won the title – it’s the last little hurdle to finally get it. Can they do it?

“It’s maybe a bit of belief, the manager’s done it in Germany but not too many of these players have. There’s one or two nerves creeping in now, but Pep’s City just play.

“They are bothered about results, but he says play this way no matter what, and it brings results ultimately. Liverpool don’t have that luxury.”

Manchester City are looking to retain the Premier League title for the first time.
