Ian Wright has admitted that Mohamed Salah’s incredible start to life at Liverpool FC has taken him by surprise.
The Egypt international has made a sensational start to life at Anfield after having signed for the Reds from AS Roma in the summer transfer window last year.
Salah has managed to score 28 goals in the Premier League for the Reds so far this season and is clearly one of the main contenders for the PFA Player of the Year award.
The 25-year-old attacker has also netted six times in the Champions League to help Jurgen Klopp’s men reach the quarter-finals of Europe’s elite club competition.
Salah’s fine start to his Liverpool FC career has inevitably caught a lot of people by surprise.
And the Arsenal legend admits that he was one of the people who didn’t expect to see Salah do so well in his first campaign at the club.
Speaking to BBC Radio 5 live, Wright said: “When he came back here, I didn’t think ‘oh woah that’s a great signing’.
“I thought it was an interesting signing. He didn’t do well at Chelsea. People make the comparison to Lionel Messi because of the rate he scores.”
Salah will be expecting to feature for Liverpool FC when the Reds return to Premier League action after the international break with a trip to Crystal Palace.
Klopp’s men are currently in third place in the Premier League table as they seek Champions League qualification for next season.
