Steven Gerrard was impressed by Loris Karius' display in Liverpool FC's 2-0 win over Newcastle United on Saturday

Steven Gerrard singled out Loris Karius for special praise after Liverpool FC’s win over Newcastle United in the Premier League on Saturday evening.
The German goalkeeper has been holding down the number one spot at Anfield in recent weeks by keeping Simon Mignolet out of the team.
Karius produced a fine save to deny Mohamed Diame’s effort on the stroke of half-time at Anfield.
And Liverpool FC legend Gerrard was clearly impressed by the German’s performance for the Reds at Anfield on Saturday afternoon.
Speaking during BT Sport‘s coverage of the game, Gerrard said: “It’s a world-class save.
“He’s had a lot of stick, but this is why Jurgen Klopp has been keeping faith in him – because he is capable of these great shot-stops.”
Karius has now started 10 of Liverpool FC’s Premier League games so far this season. He has also featured seven times in the Champions League for the Reds this term.
Mohamed Salah gave Liverpool FC the lead in the 40th minute, before Sadio Mane made it 2-0 in the 54th minute.
Next up for Liverpool FC is their home clash against FC Porto in the return leg of their Champions League last 16 clash.
The Reds, who are in second place in the Premier League table, have all but booked their place in the quarter-finals of Europe’s elite club competition after their 5-0 win over Porto last month.
