Michael Owen is backing Liverpool FC to ease to a comfortable win against Newcastle United at Anfield on Saturday evening.
The Reds are looking to secure a Champions League spot in successive seasons following a fourth-placed finish last term.
Liverpool FC were 4-1 winners against West Ham United at Anfield last weekend courtesy of goals from Emre Can, Mohamed Salah, Roberto Firmino and Mohamed Salah.
The Merseyside outfit have scored a staggering 16 goals in his last five games in all competitions.
The Reds could move seven points clear of fifth-placed Chelsea FC if Jurgen Klopp’s side manage to beat Newcastle this weekend.
The defending Premier League champions have a difficult assignment at runaway leaders Manchester City on Sunday.
Former Liverpool FC striker Owen is confident the Reds will avoid a setback against Newcastle at Anfield this weekend.
“Liverpool are unbeaten in their last 21 home league games against Newcastle United and they have scored more goals against the Magpies (89) than any other side in the history of the Premier League,” Owen told BetVictor.
“Rafa Benitez is sure to get a warm reception back on Merseyside and it should be noted that he is unbeaten in three previous PL games against his former club with both games at Anfield finishing 2-2.
“Mo Salah has scored in his last six games for the Reds in all competitions and United need to stop the Egyptian if they are to get a positive result against this exciting Liverpool side.”
