Charlie Nicholas predicts where Liverpool FC, Man United will finish
Charlie Nicholas explains why he's expecting to see Liverpool FC finish second in the table ahead of Man United
Charlie Nicholas is backing Liverpool FC to finish in second place ahead of Manchester United.
The Reds were brilliant 4-3 winners against Premier League leaders Manchester City at Anfield last weekend.
Liverpool FC were the first Premier League team to beat the runaway leaders in 23 outings in the top-flight campaign so far.
The Merseyside outfit are in third place in the table and three points adrift of Manchester United, who occupy runners-up spot.
Liverpool FC will be hoping to overhaul Manchester United and finish ahead of their bitter rivals for the second successive season.
The Red Devils were 3-0 winners against Stoke City at Old Trafford on Monday night to record back to back league wins.
Former Arsenal midfielder Nicholas believes Liverpool FC will secure runners-up spot thanks to the addition of Virgil van Dijk.
“I’m edging towards Liverpool for second place after their win on Super Sunday without a £75m defender,” Nicholas told Sky Sports.
“Manchester City obviously win the title and then I see United in third, with the arrival of Alexis Sanchez giving them more options to juggle having a go in the cup competitions, as we know Jose Mourinho will be desperate to secure some sort of silverware.”
Manchester United ended up in sixth spot last season but won the League Cup and the Europa League in Jose Mourinho’s first season in charge.
The Red Devils will take on La Liga side Sevilla in the Champions League last 16 next month.
