Chris Kirkland believes that Liverpool FC are already too far ahead in the Premier League title race to be caught.

The Reds have won all eight of their Premier League games so far this term to make a perfect start to the new campaign and leave them eight points clear of Manchester City at the top of the table.

Liverpool FC have claimed victories over the likes of Arsenal and Chelsea FC so far this season to build their lead, while Manchester City have dropped points on a number of occasions.

The Merseyside outfit moved eight points clear of second-placed Manchester City with a 2-1 win over Leicester last weekend.

And Manchester City then failed to close the gap when they suffered a shock 2-0 loss to Wolves in front of their home fans at The Etihad.

Liverpool FC are aiming to go one step further than they did last season when they try and win the title this term.

And former Reds goalkeeper Kirkland seems to be convinced that Jurgen Klopp’s men will finally be able to lift the Premier League trophy this season.

Asked if the Premier League title is on its way to Anfield, Kirkland told Sky Sports: “I honestly do think it is.

“Last year was so unlucky. People say losing by one point was devastating, I would rather have lost by one point than be 15, 16 points behind City still.

“I think with City’s injury problems they’ve got at the back, [Aymeric] Laporte is a huge miss, Vincent Kompany is a massive miss for them. At the back you can get at them.

“When we play them, if we can take points off them then all of a sudden you’re talking double figures. Can you see us losing four or five games this season? Not the way we’re playing.”

Liverpool FC will return to Premier League action after the international break with a crunch clash against arch rivals Manchester United at Old Trafford.
