Exciting teenager tipped to shine for Liverpool FC this season
Craig Bellamy is expecting to see Ben Woodburn continue to shine for Liverpool FC this season
Craig Bellamy believes that Ben Woodburn could be on course to have a breakthrough season at Liverpool this term.
The 17-year-old returned to Melwood this week after enjoying a memorable time on international duty with Wales, having come off the bench to score his country’s winner in their crunch World Cup qualifier against Austria.
He then featured again for his country off the bench during the clash with Moldova on Tuesday night.
Woodburn has already taken the record as Liverpool’s youngest ever goalscorer after finding the net in the League Cup against Leeds last November.
And former Wales international Bellamy is expecting big things from Woodburn in the coming weeks and months at Liverpool.
Bellamy told The Debate on Sky Sports on Wednesday night: “To have an impact like that is just incredible and hopefully he can go and fulfil what we all believe he has a very good chance of being a very good footballer.
“I do see him getting game time at Liverpool. He fits in to what Liverpool do going forward. They rate him very highly and I would like to see him get game time with all the competitions, especially the business end of the season.
“Already he has made a huge impact for a 17 year old, but you look at the competitions Liverpool are in – Champions League, League Cup, FA Cup, league – there is going to be game time there.”
Liverpool are preparing for a return to Premier League action on Saturday lunchtime with a crunch clash against Manchester City at The Etihad.
The Reds are currently second in the table after their 4-0 thrashing of Arsenal last time out.
