Danny Murphy praises ‘excellent’ Liverpool FC signing
Danny Murphy praises Liverpool FC for their signing of Alisson Becker in the summer transfer window

Danny Murphy has praised Liverpool FC for their signing of Alisson Becker in the summer transfer window.
Jurgen Klopp moved quickly to bring Alisson to AS Roma this summer after the Reds began looking for a new goalkeeper following Loris Karius’ nightmare performance in the Champions League final defeat by Real Madrid back in May.
Alisson has started both of Liverpool FC’s Premier League games so far this season and impressed as he helped the Reds to keep clean sheets against West Ham United and Crystal Palace.
The Brazilian shot-stopper will be aiming to hold down a regular spot at Anfield as he bids to try and help Liverpool FC mount a serious challenge for the Premier League title this season.
Murphy says Alisson will have to get used to the increased pressure at Anfield, but he is tipping the goalkeeper to end up being a quality signing for the Reds.
Speaking in an interview with bwin, Murphy said: “Everybody in football knew that Liverpool needed a goalkeeper and the club paid the price for that this summer.
“No matter who Liverpool signed, they were going to have to pay a premium and an exaggerated fee due to their desperate need for a goalkeeper.
“There’s an expectancy that comes with big-money signings and I’m interested to see if Alisson can replicate the form he had for Roma in that environment.
“He is a very good goalkeeper and he’s very commanding, but there’s a pressure at Anfield that he wouldn’t have had while playing for Roma.
“The Premier League is very different from the Serie A too, but he looks like an excellent signing and exactly what Liverpool needed.”
Liverpool FC finished in fourth place in the Premier League table last season and without a trophy under Klopp.
The Reds are still aiming to win their first piece of silverware since Klopp’s appointment at Anfield back in 2015.
